What does Stephen King think about the Carrie remake?

Yesterday brought us the disheartening news that Screen Gems is preparing a CARRIE remake. If you share our feelings on the matter, it’s not exactly an exciting prospect.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with its former contributor – and CARRIE author – Stephen King to pick his brain about the remake. Here’s what he had to say:

“I’ve heard rumblings about a Carrie remake, as I have about The Stand and It. Who knows if it will happen? The real question is why, when the original was so good? Although Lindsay Lohan as Carrie White… hmmm. It would certainly be fun to cast. I guess I could get behind it if they turned the project over to one of the Davids: Lynch or Cronenberg.”

Fat chance there, Stephen. More likely it’ll end up being someone like Nelson McCormick, who directed the PROM NIGHT and STEPFATHER remakes for Screen Gems. As for Lohan, I can actually picture her being one of Carrie’s antagonists, but the role of Carrie White needs to be played by someone who looks, you know, young and innocent.
