Tomorrow is Tuesday, folks, which means that new Blu-ray releases are hitting the shelves! For those of you who've yet to throw down for HBO Max, HIS DARK MATERIALS: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON will finally be made available to own on disc. I'll be picking that one up for sure, alongside RIDE YOUR WAVE, a gorgeous-looking anime feature from director Masaaki Yuasa, which tells the tale of when a surfer and a firefighter meet and fall in love.
Also set to make its way to home release is Amazon Prime Video's JACK RYAN: SEASON 2, starring John Krasinski as an up-and-coming CIA analyst whose latest field assignment finds him uncovering a terrorist communication that spirals out into a dangerous gambit.
Another promising release that's set to hit shelves is Carlo Mirabella-Davis' SWALLOW, a dark thriller that revolves around Hunter, a newly pregnant housewife, who finds herself increasingly compelled to consume dangerous objects. As her husband and his family tighten their control over her life, she must confront the dark secret behind her new obsession. Woof. Is it me or does this one remind you of something Chuck Palahniuk would dream up?
Also on the list for this week's physical releases is the complete first season of DISPATCHES TO ELSEWHERE, an AMC mystery series from created by and starring Jason Segel, as well as André Benjamin, Eve Lindley, Richard E. Grant, and Sally Field. In the series, four ordinary people stumble across a puzzle hiding just beyond the veil of everyday life, and their eyes are opened to a world of possibility and magic.
Joining the aforementioned releases on Tuesday, August 4th is Bora Kim's HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD, Criterion's release of THE LOST HONOR OF KATHARINE BLUM, the NARUTO 4-MOVIE COLLECTION and more!
