You will believe planes can float in the IMAX poster for Sully

On Thursday, January 15th, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain, Chesley Sullenberger, nicknamed "Sully", glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career. Tom Hanks plays the captain in the upcoming film from Clint Eastwood, and now you can check out the latest IMAX poster portraying the big moment.

Is anyone keeping track of how many times Tom Hanks portrays a captain? He must be going for a record. In any event, I'm not sure how much of this story is "untold" outside of the unconventional plane landing, but Hanks is always enjoyable to watch on the big screen so I'm curious to see how this one will turn out.

SULLY opens in theaters on September 8, 2016.
