Zombie (1979) – Best Foreign Horror Movies

Last month, our Best Foreign Horror Movies video series got its start with a video dedicated to legendary Italian filmmaker Dario Argento’s Deep Red. For the second episode of the series, we’re looking at a film from another legendary Italian director, Lucio Fulci. The movie in question: Fulci’s unofficial Dawn of the Dead sequel Zombie! (Or Zombi 2, if you prefer.)

Written by Dardano Sacchetti and Elisa Briganti, Zombie / Zombi 2 shows what happens when

a New York reporter follows a woman to an island where a doctor faces an epidemic of the undead.

You might not expect that set-up to lead to a sequence in which a zombie has a battle with a shark, but that does indeed happen, and that sequence is what Zombie is best known for. Fulci made a lot of horror movies over the years, but Zombie is by far my favorite of the bunch, so I’m glad to see it get covered so early in the run of Best Foreign Horror Movies.

The film stars Ian McCulloch, Tisa Farrow, Richard Johnson, Al Cliver, Auretta Gay, Stefania D’Amario, and Olga Karlatos.

The Best Foreign Horror Movies series is

dedicated to highlighting horror films from outside North American that carry lots of punch, bite, scares or/and stabs! Hop on and enjoy the horror ride around the world.

This episode of the show was Written by Bryan Wolford, Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Gonzalo Lopez, Produced by John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

The first episode of Best Foreign Horror Movies can be seen below, along with a sample of a couple of the other shows we have on the JoBlo Horror Videos YouTube channel. To see a lot more, head over to YouTube – and subscribe to the channel while you’re there!
