A stand-alone Obi-Wan Kenobi film from Stephen Daldry is in the works!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As production for the UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM soldiers on, The Hollywood Reporter is now saying that a stand-alone STAR WARS film based on the character Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the works with BILLY ELLIOT's Stephen Daldry in early talks to direct.

For the moment, the film is in active development but does not have a script. If the deal goes through, Daldry will oversee the development process and writing with Lucasfilms in his corner. At this time, we have no idea if Ewan McGregor will return to reprise his role as the young Jedi master.

Well, how do you like that? While the announcement of a stand-alone Obi-Wan Kenobi film will come as no surprise to some, it sure does feel good to have gotten the official word from Disney and Lucasfilm about this project. What are you hoping for from a STAR WARS film centering on the legendary Jedi master? Would you like to see McGregor back in the role or is it perhaps time that someone else wielded his iconic blue lightsaber?

THE UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM will put a bounty out on theaters on May 25, 2018.
