Five new clips and images from the upcoming Robocop remake show off some action

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The ROBOCOP remake is less than a month away and many have already made up their minds about whether or not they’ll be seeing it. While some folks see a fun ride, others see a blasphemous remake. Today, we have some new clips that may sway you to one side or the other. See Samuel L. Jackson play a hyperbolic TV news show host, Michael Keaton as an ambitious and hot-headed idea man, and finally Joel Kinnaman as the titular hero facing off against two ED-209’s in a fairly explosive throw down.

Take a look:

Here’s the synopsis:

In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years – and it’s meant billions for OmniCorp’s bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice.

I have to say, the ED-209 battle doesn’t look bad at all and just seeing Michael Keaton get all riled up onscreen again always makes for a good time. Does that mean that this will be a success? Of course not, but it does paint a little more positive picture, even if slightly. In the end, those of us that grew up with the original are going to need some serious convincing, so this remake has got a lot of work to do on that front.

ROBOCOP opens on February 12, 2014.
