Reynolds plays an aging actor named Vic Edwards who was very popular in his earlier career. He was a college football player, then a stunt double and then a leading man. He heads to Nashville (after getting advice from a friend played by Chevy Chase) to get a lifetime achievement award. Instead of being given a hotel suite and pampered, he finds that it’s a low budget festival put on locally and that he’s the only major honoree who has ever shown up. While he’s there, however, he goes on a journey of self-discovery.
