You read that right. Mr. Raimi will be behind The CW’s horror reality show 13.
Here’s the skinny on what we’ll be seeing in this reality show: The goal is to utilize horror-themed challenges to knock players off one by one, until just one is left, having survived all that bloodshed. A few options for the setting include: An evil small town? A lakeside retreat with a creepy secret? An abandoned cabin in the forest?
The only other horror themed reality shows that come to mind are SCARE TACTICS and MTV’s FEAR, both were pretty cool in my opinion. 13 sounds like it could go either way. Could it be a great reality show that really capitilizes on the horror theme? Or will it be a complete ripoff of every other reality show out there with a stupid gimmick? Let’s hope for the first one.
Along with Raimi, Jay Bienstock will also be behind 13. Bienstock is no stranger to reality TV and had the following to say regarding 13:
“It sounded like a lot of fun. The idea of doing a horror/scary/reality show with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert — there’s nothing better.”
Bienstock even commented on how they’ll be casting 13:
“We want to cast it like a horror movie. And shoot it a little differently as well. Think about those old movies — we want to put people in a place like that, where they have to deal with their fears and anxieties. They’ll end up surprising one another.”
Along with Bienstock and Raimi, Rob Tapert will be executive producing. Netlet is on board with 8 episodes for 13. It’ll be hitting sometime this summer, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
