With most news today going to the more heralded, major studio fare, it’s nice to throw a little love to smaller, under-the-radar flicks. And such is the case with RENOVATION, an action/suspense/thriller which we’ve just gotten a little scoop on (including the first production still seen above).
Having just locked principal photography, director Robert Gwinn tells an Arizona set tale about the renovation of the historic Hotel Del Sol which takes a deadly turn when an ex-con returns looking for his hidden money (the same hotel was sued in the Alec Baldwin/Kim Basinger remake of THE GETAWAY in ’94).
Actor/filmmaker DJ Perry (GHOST TOWN: THE MOVIE, THE 8TH PLAGUE) leads an exciting cast in this twisted story of greed and manipulation surrounding a group of renovators. Co-Starring in the film with a great cast of newcomers is Johnny Dark (SKIN WALKER), Lana Wood (SATAN’S MISTRESS), Terence Knox (AN ORDINARY KILLER), Fred Griffith (BLOOD DEEP) and Anthony Hornus (BLOOD TIES).
Ah, good ol’ hotel horror. Not a bad place to start!
The film is slated for a Spring 2010 Yuma, AZ release followed by several theatrical screenings nationwide.
