Two more cuties have signed on to Zack Snyder’s bizarro follow-up to WATCHMEN, SUCKER PUNCH. Jamie Chung (the upcoming SORORITY ROW; pictured below) and Jena Malone (THE RUINS; pictured right) both have starring roles in the action-fantasy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They join an already chick-heavy bunch, including Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish and Vanessa Hudgens. Quite a f*cking line-up so far, wonder what a guy has to do to get invited to the set…
Set in the 1950’s, a young girl is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While there, she starts to imagine an alternative reality to hide from her pain. She plans to escape from this imaginary world, but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man.
It’s interesting to note that Chung and Malone aren’t the first actresses to inhabit the roles they now own. Chung replaces Emma Stone, while Malone is replacing Evan Rachel Wood. And this isn’t even the first time Snyder has had to replace departing cast – Amanda Seyfried, who was set to play the lead character, left the project and was replaced by Browning… Something amiss with the flick, or just a series of ill-times scheduling conflicts? You make the call!
SUCKER PUNCH, if all goes well from now on, will hit theaters OCTOBER 8, 2010.
