2 new posters & a handful of stills from the Irish thriller The Daisy Chain

Remember the Irish chiller THE DAISY CHAIN that we featured a trailer for wayyyyyy back in October of last decade? You know, the U.K. equivalent to ORPHAN?

No worries if you don’t, because I’m not only here to remind you of the film’s premise, I’m also here to call attention to a few new stills and 2 fresh one-sheets for the flick. And as disappointing as it is that the first poster is almost a dead ringer for the one we saw 4 months ago, all that dismay is washed away by the utter amount of ass the second poster kicks. Christ, who is that…shite looks like an anorexic Beetle Juice fresh off a sex-change op and a 3-week rock-pipe binge. Which, ironically enough, makes me wanna see the film even more!

Rerunning this sucker down, we find:

Martha, an emotionally fragile mother, who moves to a remote Irish village with her husband Tomas following the tragic death of their baby daughter. Whilst there, the couple decide to take in a disturbed and orphaned autistic girl called Daisy. Uncommunicative and greatly scarred by the violent death of her parents, Daisy gradually warms to her new surroundings. But, as a series of strange occurrences begin to be linked to the little girl, Martha and Tomas begin to hear rumors from the locals that Daisy might be something far more malevolent than she seems.

If every other attribute remained a wash, which child name would you fret more: Daisy or Esther (the girl from ORPHAN)? There’s nothing nice about Esther, is there? But Daisy sort of lulls you into some kind of false sense of security, know what I mean. It gives off flowery imagery and whatnot, so when that’s subverted by something truly sinister…well, f*ck me!

Samantha Morton and Steven Mackintosh headline THE DAISY CHAIN, which is written by Lauren Mackenzie and directed by Aisling Walsh.

Image Entertainment releases the flick on DVD April 13th.
