2-Part Alien prequel in trouble, Ridley Scott and Fox at creative odds?

What’s this now…

It was only this past Monday that things seemed to be going so well on Ridley Scott’s two-part ALIEN prequel, when we relayed production design for the film had begun under Arthur Max (ROBIN HOOD). Three days later and the sucker seems to be in the goddamn ICU. What the hell’s the deal?!?

Per an article at ScriptFlags, it appears Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox are at major creative odds with each other. Scott, who from the onset planned to make a dual-opus, reportedly wants a $250 million budget allocated toward a hard-R ass-kicker. Predictably, Fox wants to slash the cost dramatically and bring the picture in under a PG-13 tag. Massive. Creative. Odds.

As a result of this impasse, the film has been put on hold for the time being. F*ckin’ bummer, I know!

If Ridley f*ckin’ Scott can’t land creative carte blanche in this town, I don’t know who can? Tyler Perry? Michael Bay? Sure ROBIN HOOD wasn’t very good, and Scott has never been a huge box-office powerhouse, but come on. Dude’s got a handful of classics in his resume dating back to 1979. Let the man do what the f*ck he wants. Honestly!

Let’s open it up. How do you all feel about this bullshite? Think Fox knows what we ALIEN fans want more than Ridley does? Have they not learned their lesson from the pathetic AVP franchise? What the hell?

More as we pluck it…
