2006 AFM grows!

Another year, another AFM (American
Film Market). As per last year, I am aiming to attend this year’s AFM (November
1-8, 2006 in Santa Monica)
and
lets just say that the event has grown since my humble beginnings there 3
years ago. You see, the  AFM just partnered up with the AFI FESTIVAL
(November
1-12, 2006 in Hollywood)
for
uber movie loving!

“A major benefit of our partnership with AFI FEST is the
opportunity for a selection of our exhibitors’ films to be programmed in the
Festival, creating additional exposure and marketing platforms,” said
Jonathan Wolf (AFM Executive Vice President of
Independent Film & Television Alliance and Managing Director) . “Producers
and distributors from around the world have successfully integrated the
Festival and Market. Their feedback has been terrific.”

It
seems that of

the 75 narrative feature films and 17 feature documentaries that played at
AFI FEST last year, 45 films were pushed in both the film festival and the
film market, resulting in all kinds of flicks locking territories, including
U.S. distribution.

Yup the
association between the two events has created a bridge between art and
business, hence broadening everybody’s opportunities. I’m all for that! The
AFM is a tough place man!
