Independent Spirit Awards 2007

The nominees for the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards were recently announced and that not only means that the awards season is officially open but we’re that much closer to the most hallowed of award ceremonies, The Golden Schmoes.

This year, Todd Haynes’ experimental Bob Dylan biopic, I’M NOT THERE, pretty much swept the competition, receiving a nod in almost every category (well, not really but it did post an impressive showing). Former stripper Diablo Cody’s screenwriting debut JUNO (and Jason Reitman’s sophomore directorial effort) put up a strong showing as well. All in all, not a bad year for indies. Get more information at the official site HERE. The show will premiere on Saturday, February 23rd, on IFC.
