2021 will see Batwoman V Superman air as The CW’s crossover event

In addition to revealing the network's upcoming 2020-2021 schedule, the CW has announced that this year's superhero-centric crossover event will revolve around the characters Batwoman and Superman coming together. To be presented as a two-hour event, CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz said during a recent scheduling call that while plans are in motion, the COVID-19 production shutdown has thrown a batarang or two into the works.

“We’re still working on it. It will be a smaller event than usual, we’re only planning a two-hour event. We are talking about doing Superman and Batwoman together. There’s a lot of characters coming from our other shows,” he said.

Word of Batwoman crossing capes with Superman comes after it was revealed that SUPERMAN & LOIS, starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, respectively, has been granted a straight-to-series order at The CW. Based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the show will explore the lives of DC's legendary couple, as they attempt to manage all the stress, responsibilities, and unknowns that come with being working parents in a fast-paced world. Joining Hoechlin and Tulloch for the upcoming superhero drama are Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Lang's husband, and newly-announced cast member Wolé Parks (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, YELLOWSTONE), who is set to play the villain known as The Stranger.

The CW recently pressed pause on production for SUPERMAN & LOIS, which was scheduled to film its pilot episode during the regular pilot season this summer. Once the show is able to resume filming, executive producers Todd Helbing, DC Universe mastermind Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV will set to work on fulfilling the show's 13-episode order. How Batwoman and Superman will cross paths has yet to be revealed, though you can be sure that the duo will make for interesting bed fellows once they're made to stand cowl to curly-cue.
