24: Legacy’s Anna Diop joins DC’s live-action Titans series as Starfire

As Warner Bros. and DC's JUSTICE LEAGUE continues to fight the good fight amidst a terrible loss, director swaps and rumors, plans for the comic publisher's forthcoming TITANS series appears to be going smoothly. On Thursday, it was announced that 24: LEGACY actress Anna Diop would be joining the TITANS project as Koriand’r a.k.a. Starfire, an alien princess who hails from a warrior planet.

With her orange complexion, fiery red hair, and unquenchable thirst for action, Starfire flees from her home planet in the hope of discovering a safe-haven. After touching down on Earth, Koriand’r joins Dick Grayson's band of misfit heroes, As an elseworld badass, Starfire uses her abilities of flight and energy bolt-laden fists to fight for those who cannot defend themselves against the many threats that are lurking in the shadows.

The live-action series from Greg Berlanti, Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Warner Bros TV will be written by Goldsman, Johns, Berlanti and presented as a DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service. By signing on to act in the new series, Diop will join Australian actress Teagan Croft, who is set to play Raven, a moody hero imbued with a myriad of abilities such as empathy, healing, soul-self, hypnosis, chaos magic, and much more.

While I haven't seen what Diop can do on-screen, she certainly does look the part – particularly if you compare her features to comic book creator Amanda Conner's rendition of Starfire (which you can see posted above). If everything continues to go according to plan (because honestly, you never know with DC, these days), TITANS is expected to premiere in 2018 as content to be included in the inaugural slate of a new DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service.
