Before you get your hopes up I’m not talking about the upcoming SAW VI. Nope. Today I’m talking about SAW: THE VIDEO GAME!
The kind gentlemen over at ClanBase scored the look at the first three stills for the game. You can scope those out above and below. Nothing too exciting. The first photo below actually looks like it’s got some amazing graphics going on while the other two… not so amazing. It’s looking like your generic SAW go-around. SAW: THE VIDEO GAME will ‘combine action, puzzles, mystery and terror all tied around an original plot that ties into but is however not entirely adapted from the films. The gameplay is focused on the unusual traps serial killer Jigsaw likes to rig for his tortured victims. You take control of a character in an asylum who has to decide whether and how to solve the puzzles and save Jigsaw’s victims.’
Ready for the kicker? Apparently Konami are looking at SAW to follow along the footsteps of SILENT HILL and become the next big survival horror video game franchise. Hmm. I’m just not seeing that. SAW’s popularity is dying down it seems with it’s upteenth installment heading our way this Halloween. Not a great time to start up a hopefule video game franchise based on the franchise. Plus with the recent successful installments of both SILENT HILL and RESIDENT EVIL, SAW looks like it’s got it’s work cut out for it!
What’s your verdict? Personally I’m intrigued enough to check this one out but I’m getting the feeling I won’t find it too exciting. Seems like it’s just going to be an uneventful and lame attempt at pushing the franchise. Let’s hope I’m wrong. SAW: THE VIDEO GAME is set to hit shelves for PC, Playstation 3, and X-Box 360 this October, right alongside Lionsgate’s release of SAW VI.
