30 Days of Slade

One of my most anticipated movies to see this year is David Slade’s HARD CANDY, which looks intensely creepy and all around twisted- a good time, in a nutshell. It’s exciting to know that Slade will be taking the director’s chair again this summer, in his attempts to bring Steve Niles/ Ben Templesmith’s horror comic series 30 DAYS OF NIGHT to the big screen.


He talked with SuperHeroHype about what his vision is for the film, and how it compares to the comic book:”…We have a very original take on the genre. Indeed, I don’t believe there’s much of the genre left in what we’ve written, but it’s very faithful both to Steve Niles’ writing, and the town and the esthetic–we hope at this point, because we’re not shooting until the summer–will be very close to Ben Templesmith’s artwork. But we’re going to maintain the level of realism.”


I hope he’s left some of the genre in it! Maybe I’m reading it wrong, one second he says they’re taking a new approach, next second he’s saying there won’t be any genre in it all. I’m confused. As long as he holds on to the Templesmith’s nightmarish artwork for the ‘look’, then I’ll be a happy camper- that shit is just creepy looking! I’m having nightmares just by looking at it, and I’m not even sleeping.
