5 Look Up

This past September, aka a long ass time ago, Eric told you how Fruit Chan was set to direct a remake of Japanese flick JOYU-REI (DON’T LOOK UP) for Distant Horizon, Action 5, and Hakuhodo.

This is still the plan, and Variety have finally dropped some more news on the project. The news being a handful of names to join the cast.

Those names are: Henry Thomas, Kevin Corrigan, Lothaire Bluteau, Carmen Chaplin (below) and Reshad Strik.

The original centers on an abandoned movie studio, where the sanity of a director and his crew starts unraveling when spirits from another era invade the film stock of the contempo production. I’m definately down for that!

Big time Japanese director Hideo Nakata brought us the original. As stated, Fruit Chan, of 3 EXTREMES fame, will be directing the remake. Distant Horizon’s Anant Singh and Brian Cox along with Action 5’s Yoko Asakura will be producing. Richard Jeffery and Philip Lee are set to executive produce.

Lensing for DON’T LOOK UP is slated to start April 14 in Los Angeles. It’s been stated that production will take place in Romania. We’ll keep you updated.
