80’s flick Truth or Dare: A Critical Madness hits Blu-Ray for the first time

We're living in a miraculous time to be retro horror fans. I can understand why THE THING or even THE EXORCIST III are getting loving Collector's Editions, but get this. We're about to receive a Blu-Ray release of TRUTH OR DARE?: A CRITICAL MADNESS. The flick, which was shot on video and released in the backwaters of 1986, is somewhat of a cult classic – in fact, it's one of Elijah Wood's very favorite horror films – but never in a million years did anyone believe it would survive this long as a cultural artifact.

We're all better for it, of course. The release, which is being handled by SRS Cinema, will hit mid-October, with pre-sales beginning on Friday, September 16th at 7pm EST via their official web site. The disc will also include some all-new extras, though they have not been announced yet.

The synopsis:

When an already unbalanced Mike Strauber catches his wife Sharon in bed with his best friend, the result is a rapid descent into insanity. Mike's revenge is masked in the form of the seemingly innocent child's game "Truth or Dare", but playing his demented and twisted version results in a bloodbath the likes that has never been seen before… with a trail of victims leading right back to his wife!

TRUTH OR DARE? stars John Brace, Mary Fanaro, Bruce Gold, and features an early appearance from The Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean. It was directed by Tim Ritter.

Check out the trailer below, replete with some of the cheesiest 80's synthcrap you've ever heard. It's a damn delight, is what it is. Below that you can find the twisted new artwork for the release.
