Jesse Eisenberg would love to return as Lex Luthor for the DCEU

While a staggering number of DCEU fans continue to think of Jared Leto's Joker as little more than a bad joke, there appears to be a great deal of individuals who enjoyed Jesse Eisenberg's take on Superman villain and purveyor of Granny's Peach Tea, Lex Luthor. Eisenberg arrived as the misguided megalomaniac courtesy of Zack Snyder's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, though after a solid debut, we've heard very little about the character — save for a brief after-credits cameo in JUSTICE LEAGUE. In the sequence, a bald-headed Luthor introduces Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke, thereby teasing a villain who, sadly, has yet to be included in any DCEU films going forward.

Of course, you can't mention Eisenberg's Luthor without talking about the elusive Snyder Cut, which in time has become something of a white whale for DCEU fans, and refers to Snyder's original vision of the DC superhero film JUSTICE LEAGUE. For what feels like forever at this point in time, fans have been clamoring for Warner Bros. to organize and release Snyder's intended version of the film, a cut that some believe would have included more of Eisenberg's Luthor.

While the Snyder Cut remains as little more than a dream for a subset of dedicated fans, Eisenberg was recently asked if he would consider returning to the DCEU as Superman's greatest foe. Not to bury the lede here or anything, but Eisenberg says that he'd love to reprise the role, which should please those who're hoping that he'll return sometime down the line.

When asked about suiting up as Lex Luthor for a future DCEU project, Eisenberg told InThePanda, "Oh yeah, I would love to, because it's such a cool character. To play a villain in a superhero movie is the fun part. The good guys are fine, but the villains is the fun part because they get to be a little bit more flamboyant. Of course, the hero gets to, you know, survive. But the villain has all the funny lines. I don't know about the first part, but the second part is something that I could definitely be involved in, sure."

Would you be game for Eisenberg to return to the DCEU, perhaps in a sequel to MAN OF STEEL … if it ever happens? Maybe Luthor could be at the head of his own Injustice League, or the Secret Society of Supervillains?
