Marvel announces Brie Larson as Captain Marvel (Comic Con 2016)

Last Updated on February 2, 2026

Our write-up of Marvel’s SDCC panel is coming your way very soon, but towards the end of the presentation they brought out an Academy Award-winning actress and announced that she would be playing Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel. I’m talking about an uber-talented young lady with brains, class, beauty, wit, charm and a love for STAR WARS. Of course, I’m talking about Brie Larson! You can see our picture from the panel below, as well as the official logo released by Marvel up above!

Plot details are under wraps for now, as well as who might be helming this picture, but there’s no denying that Marvel is off to a great start! Their proficiency in casting knows no bounds, and I’m sure Brie will be quick to become a fan favorite (as if she wasn’t one already)!

CAPTAIN MARVEL is scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
