BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. You can check out some of the action from the film in the featurette below!
So how about it? Are the previews for this thing doing anything for you? Bekmambetov brought a unique vision to films like NIGHT WATCH and WANTED, but he feels like he's on autopilot here. For whatever reason, this just feels like made-for-TV fare. It could be serviceable but I have a feeling most people aren't going to give it a chance in theaters anyway.
BEN-HUR will seek vengeance in theaters on August 19, 2016.
