Ben Affleck believes that the DC Cinematic Universe is going to be “massive”

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

While Marvel's Cinematic Universe is already speeding towards the beginning of their third phase, DC's Cinematic Universe is still very much in its infancy. MAN OF STEEL may have set things in motion, but the upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will be our first look at how Warner Bros. will deal with the DC Cinematic Universe, and our new Batman has faith that it's going to be "massive".

Ben Affleck spoke with Variety recently where he expressed his belief that Warner Bros.' DC Cinematic Universe is going to pay off in a big way.

You’ll see next year they are going to have a great year, they are now developing … probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world. And now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it’s going to be massive.

Although Ben Affleck seems confident that BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will be a huge hit for the studio, he's also aware of the incredible pressure that everyone involved in the production is under. I've little doubt that BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will do big business, but it's going to have to do more than simply make a lot of money in order to justify Warner Bros. ambitious plan, a thought Affleck seems to share.

We are a very kind of instant gratification culture when it comes to analyzing the film business. And there is a lot of hyperbole involved. Nonetheless, there’s a lot of pressure on it. I mean I would be bulls—ting you to say there isn’t. If it doesn’t do well, that will be extremely disappointing.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
