Stream Jonny Greenwood’s full score for P.T. Anderson’s Inherent Vice now

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Paul Thomas Anderson films have always been known for having inventive and stirring musical scores. Whether it be Jon Brion or Jonny Greenwood, Anderson’s films have always balanced beautifully curated selections of music with awards-worthy instrumental music. The filmmaker’s upcoming INHERENT VICE looks to be no exception.

Reuniting with Jonny Greenwood who scored both THERE WILL BE BLOOD and THE MASTER, Paul Thomas Anderson is definitely going to have a different tone and style than their prior collaborations. Now you can judge for yourself as Spotify has shared the complete soundtrack for INHERENT VICE online for your streaming pleasure. You do need an account to listen, but trust me that it is worth it.

Paul Thomas Anderson is one of my favorite directors working and I cannot help but feel people are going to be expecting INHERENT VICE to be similar to BOOGIE NIGHTS rather than judging it on it’s own merits. The author of the novel, Thomas Pynchon, is one of the oddest people working in literature today, so I wouldn’t expect this to be a straight forward film either. Listening to the score along with the selection of songs from artists like Sam Cooke and Neil Young definitely transports you to a different era. I hope the movie does the same.

INHERENT VICE is now playing in limited release. The film will begin playing everywhere on January 9th.
