Director Gareth Edwards talks taking Godzilla seriously in new featurette

JoBloJoBlo

It's obvious Gareth Edwards' GODZILLA will be a little different compared to other movies featuring the kaiju, but in a new featurette, the director says he doesn't think the original film is silly or campy like some think, and wanted to make his film just as serious as the first movie. Edwards goes on to says the goal was to make the most realistic GODZILLA film possible, and references Steven Spielberg as an influence. He also comments on how easy it is to be "seduced by visual effects."

Take a look:

Gareth Edwards is saying all the right things and the trailers have been fantastic, so the question is will GODZILLA deliver? It appears Gareth Edwards has succeeded in making a very realistic GODZILLA flick, and it looks pretty f*cking scary. GODZILLA should be a blast to check out in theaters, and I'm quite excited to finally see Gareth Edwards' take on the classic monster.

GODZILLA starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Ken Watanabe will destroy all theaters on May 16th, 2014.
