We are still a ways off from STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, but Disney’s first big project based on George Lucas‘ saga is coming later this year. The animated series STAR WARS: REBELS has teased a few images from the show set between Episodes III and IV. Now, we have a look at six propaganda posters for the cartoon.

Airing on Disney XD this Fall, STAR WARS: REBELS will focus on the Empire hunting down the remaining Jedi through out the galaxy as Palpatine’s power grows. Simon Kinberg (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) is overseeing the story of STAR WARS: REBELS and took part in the creation of the villain The Inquisitor who will be the main antagonist on the series. Kinberg shared that his goal for the show would be:

“The hope and the dream is that the experience of Rebels is similar to the experience of watching A New Hope, and Empire, and Jedi for the first time.”

REBELS will take the place of the cancelled CLONE WARS cartoon that ceased airing when Disney took over Lucasfilm. The animation between the two seems consistent, but this will be the first original content related to the original trilogy since RETURN OF THE JEDI. I am excited to check it out.
