You gotta love the red-band trailer. They aren’t totally necessary to sell a movie, but it sure doesn’t hurt when the movie in question has got some R-rated humor, which doesn’t always come across in a PG green-band trailer.
With that said, we have red-bander for THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT, starring Jason Segal, Emily Blunt, Rhys Ifans (The Lizard), Alison Brie, and Chris Pratt. Segal and Blunt star as a couple who prolong their wedding engagement with mixed results. Segal seems to be channeling the down-and-out character he portrayed from FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, which isn’t too much of a surprise given that the same director, Nicholas Stoller, is at the helm of this one.
RSVP to the trailer:
Coincidentally, FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL is one of my all-time favorite comedies (particularly the uncut version) and that gets me a little psyched for this. I didn’t care much for the psuedo-sequel GET HIM TO THE GREEK (also directed by Stoller), but this looks promising. Also, Emily Blunt is just completely adorable. I want to put her in my pocket and carry her around all day, feeding her M&M’s.
THE FIVE-YEAR ENGAGEMENT opens next week, April 27, 2012.
