Cameron Diaz is about to go from a hot momma in BAD TEACHER to a literal hot mama in the Lionsgate pregnancy comedy WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING.
The film is based on the popular series of advice books for expecting couples that details all the ups and downs that come along with having a baby. Diaz would star as the host of a fitness show (allegedly modeled after “The Biggest Loser” co-host Jillian Michaels) who becomes pregnant and it throws her well-regimented routine into a tailspin. (Wasn’t this storyline mostly addressed in the sure-to-be-vastly-superior KNOCKED UP? Then again, will anyone who’s going to see a Cameron Diaz rom-com about pregnancy have even seen KNOCKED UP?)
Like many big, ensemble rom-com movies such as VALENTINE’S DAY and HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU, Diaz’s storyline will be just one of five intersecting tales in the film, each to be headlined by a different set of A-listers.
Kirk Jones (NANNY MCPHEE) is directing the film for Lionsgate. Diaz is currently shooting the Coen Bros. scripted film GAMBIT with Colin Firth.
