Could 2011 be the year that female-led R-rated comedies break through? I’ve seen BRIDESMAIDS and can vouch that it is, indeed, hilarious. And now, the Anna Faris comedy WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER? has a trailer and it looks pretty damn funny too.
The film stars Faris as a girl who’s determined not to sleep with another guy until she finds Mr. Right (she’s terrified of having over 20 lovers and still being single). She wonders whether one of her old exes could’ve been the one, so she tracks them all done. They’re all played by great comedic actors like Chris Evans, Andy Samberg, Chris Pratt (Andy from “Parks and Rec”), Joel McHale, Thomas Lennon and Aziz Ansari (though he’s not seen in this trailer).
The film was written by Jennifer Crittenden, one-time writer/producer for “Seinfeld” and “The Simpsons” so it’s not surprising it’s got some serious comic chops. It looks like it may veer into classic rom-com territory towards the end but here’s hoping that’s just a marketing strategy.
