Production company Clap Filmes is confirming a report by Portuguese movie website c7nema that French actors Juliette Binoche (CACHÉ, CHOCOLAT) and Mathieu Amalric (QUANTUM OF SOLACE, MUNICH) have joined David Cronenberg’s upcoming COSMOPOLIS. No word yet on what their roles would be.

There still seems to be some question, though, as to whether or not Paul Giamatti has been officially signed for the film or if he remains merely attached. The rumor regarding Keira Knightley replacing Marion Cotillard, however, has been debunked courtesy of website Up and Comers who got verification directly from Knightley’s PR a little over a week ago. That blows. The hunt for Robert Pattinson’s wife continues!

Finally, longtime Cronenberg cohorts (Crohorts?) Howard Shore and director of photography Peter Suschitzy will return to score and shoot the film respectively. Not really a revelation but it’s nice to hear, as both have done such stellar work with the director over the years.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, COSMOPOLIS is an adaptation of the book by Don DeLillo that “follows 24 hours in the life of newly married billionaire Eric Packer (Pattinson) as he cheats on his wife (???), is pursued by a stalker (Giamatti), gets attacked by a protester and gradually loses his entire fortune over the course of a single day.”
