Cool Videos: Reel Wisdom – Lessons from Films

Movies aren’t just good for entertainment — sometimes we can learn something from them, right? And not just what to do in case of zombie outbreak or when the Earth’s core stops spinning, but more illuminating practical life advice.

Some may disregard these purported gems of wisdom as simple platitudes or bon mots sifted through screenwriters, directors and producers. But others can be touched in deeper ways by the philosophizing and guidance of Yoda, Morpheus and Buddy Ackerman.

YouTuber ‘Superluminal805‘ has put together his own collection of such wisdom, stating: “I made this video because I love films and I think there is great wisdom inherent in the film medium. This video represents some of the best wisdom from films, edited together as a single coherent piece of advice on everything from life, death, and purpose, to anger, regret, and destiny. In creating this video, I tried to feature a broad array of films, from action/adventure and sci-fi films, to dramas and traditional/CG animated films in order to show how all genres of film have something important to say.

There’s a disappointing shortage of pre-1990 movies and some dubious inclusions, but who knows? Maybe it’ll change your life.
