Angry Birds teams up with Rio for an App Store crossover

It’s hard to advertise these days. Print media is dead (more or less), you can now watch TV commercial-free thanks to DVR, and everyone hates all the internet banner ads that pay for people like me to work.

So what’s a company to do? Fox is trying something interesting to promote RIO, their bird-centric animated film coming out this April. They’ve teamed with the Angry Birds development team, currently rolling in cash from their massively successful mobile game.

The trailer below is the cinematic intro to the team-up, where the irate birds are kidnapped and transported to Rio by an evil uh, cockatoo? I’m bad with my bird types. Presumably they break out and have to start dive bombing bitches to set their friends free. No more evil pigs to fight?
