Later this month, THQ will release “Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner” for the iPhone. It’s the first augmented reality STAR WARS game and will allow you to relive classic moments in STAR WARS history – the TIE Fighter battle, the escape from the Death Star, the Battle of Hoth – with your current surroundings as your background.
The iPhone camera will supply the in-game background based on whatever you’re pointing it at. So if you’re in your backyard, you can blast TIE Fighters swooping over your swingset. Or, if you’re in Manhattan, you can blast invading Imperial forces out of the sky. It’s pretty damn cool and you can get a look at some test footage from the game below…
