Know your movie guns with the Internet Movie Firearms Database

“I grew up in a tough neighborhood, and we used to say that you can get further with a kind word and a gun then just a kind word.” – Al Capone (played by Robert DeNiro in THE UNTOUCHABLES)

Why do I have a picture of HEAT over an UNTOUCHABLES quote? Because those guns are cooler, that’s why. The Capone line is just one of the many gun-related movie quotes that populate the homepage of the IMFDB or the Internet Movie Firearms Database. It’s a site built using a wiki-format, and has an index of what exact gun models are used in hundreds of different movies, because, I guess, people want to know this.

It’s a ridiculous ass concept for a site, but on the other hand it is kind of awesome. I don’t own a gun myself, but ever since I watched Neo walk through the doors armed to the teeth in THE MATRIX when I was twelve, I’ve certainly been hooked on their use in movies.

Check out the site here. You and can sort by movie or actor, and they’re even branching out into TV and video games as well.
