If you weren’t tuned to Sportscenter a week or so ago, you may have missed Will Ferrell take the mound for his first minor league baseball game.
Ferrell appeared incognito as ex-convict Rojo Johnson, a promising pitcher for the Houston Astro’s Triple-A affiliate team, the Round Rock Express. As you’ll see below, “Rojo Johnson” only managed to get a single official pitch over/near the plate before being literally chased off the field.
Ferrell was in the area to promote a fundraiser (his Will Powered Golf Classic) when the opportunity for the stunt was brought up by the Express’ CEO.
The fake credentials of Ferrell’s mustachioed beer-swilling alter-ego: “Johnson, who was born in East Texas but was raised in Venezuela, recently had his prison sentence commuted. He served time for running a smuggling ring that imported rare and illegal species of reptiles into the United States from South America during the mid-to-late 1990s.”
