Back in 2007, Jason Eisener, John Davies, and Rob Cotterill won a contest at SXSW sponsored by Robert Rodriguez and the movie GRINDHOUSE. The trio created a trailer for a fake grindhouse film called “Hobo With a Shotgun” and as a result of their win, the trailer was played in select screenings of GRINDHOUSE in both the US and Canada (along with the fake trailers by Edgar Wright, Eli Roth and Rob Zombie). While Eli Roth has been talking about making a feature-length THANKSGIVING movie based on his short and Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE hits theaters this September, Eisener is ready to roll film on a HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN movie and he’s got Rutger Hauer set to star!
Details on the movie are still sparse at this point but rumors are it will follow a hobo with a shotgun. The only other news we have is that the original hobo, Dave Brunt, will show up in the new version as a cop. Filming on HOBO is currently underway in Halifax, Nova Scotia (where Eisener, Davies and Cotterill shot the original trailer) and here’s hoping we hear more about the movie soon.
