Alright, so you can laugh at me all you want, but this concept art video for Universal’s Harry Potter theme park is just AWESOME. Islands of Adventure has long been my favorite theme park (suck it Disneyland) due to the fact that even waiting in line is pretty damn fun most of the time, due to the elaborate construction of all the set pieces of the park.
And “elaborate construction” is exactly what you’re going to find in the new HP park, which recreates pieces of the Harry Potter world in extraordinary detail. There are a myriad of shops in the “town” area, including Olivander’s, Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes and Zonkos.
And of course there are going to be rides, including Flight of the Hippogriff, The Flying Unicorn and Islands of Adventure’s Dueling Dragon coasters are being refashioned into Chinese Fireball and Hungarian Horntail variations.
Last but not least, there’s Hogwarts, you don’t get to see a ton of it in the video, but it looks just massive (as demonstrated in the picture above), and convinces me that if I could buy advance tickets for this park on the spot right now, I would. It’s supposed to open “Spring 2010” and f*ck Cancun, I know where I’m going for spring break this year.
