QT on TWBB

If he had the time, which I’m presuming he will after he finishes promoting INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, I’d love to see Quentin Tarantino take up a one-year residency as a film critic somewhere. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that the dude knows a LOT about movies and has the brains and the opinions to talk intelligently about them for hours. As part of the same session that spawned Quentin’s Top 20 Movies of the Past 17 Years, Tarantino gave his detailed thoughts on THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

Quentin and Paul Thomas Anderson are pretty close friends (which he admits) but he doesn’t pull any punches. He says he loves the film but not as much as he liked BOOGIE NIGHTS. He also isn’t a very big fan of Paul Dano’s performance in the film and talks at length about how that’s one of the major weak points. I also found it interesting that at the end, he says that if it weren’t for THERE WILL BE BLOOD, there wouldn’t be INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS. I’ll let him explain how and why. Check out the vid below! (Thanks to Slashfilm for the tip)
