Just the other day I was reading Geek Monthly‘s “Revenge of the 80s” issue, which features an article about some filmmakers putting together a documentary. Their subject: the influential but reclusive John Hughes, the “J.D. Salinger of American film directors,” and the resonating themes of his work.
Unfortunately as of today, we know how their film ends.
The movie, called DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME, follows their search for Hughes, and features interviews with former cast members and others (such as critic Roger Ebert and directors Kevin Smith and Jason Reitman) whose lives and films were shaped by Hughes’ celebrated filmography.
The documentary is sadly unfinished since the ultimate goal was to talk with Hughes himself, but check out the trailer below and find out more about the project at the official site and blog.
