That beautiful Latino bastard “El Mayimbe” landed yet another cool casting scoop today. According to Mayimbe, Carey Mulligan, who may seem familiar from her work in PRIDE & PREJUDICE or her fantastic turn as Sally Sparrow in the absolutely brilliant “Doctor Who” episode “Blink”, has joined the cast of Oliver Stone’s MONEY NEVER SLEEPS, the sequel to his critically acclaimed WALL STREET, as Michael Douglas’ character Gordon Gekko’s daughter Winnie Gekko. Taking place twenty-one years after the original, Gekko has been estranged from his daughter for eleven years due to being in jail but once he’s out, Winnie’s fiance (Shia LaBeouf) approaches him about a partnership that’ll be mutually beneficial for both of them – the fiancee gets back at a hedge fund manager and Gekko will reconcile with his daughter. Fox hopes to start production this Summer for a February 2010 release.
