Holy hell, just thinking about everything that Guillermo Del Toro has on his plate is enough to make anyone exhausted and now he’s added three novels to his ever expanding upcoming slate. As if directing THE HOBBIT and its sequel, as well as being attached to direct FRANKENSTEIN, DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, and adaptations of SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE and DROOD, and producing just about three thousand films, wasn’t enough, in addition to his work in the video game and comic book industry, he’s now signed with HarperCollins imprint William Morrow to write a trilogy of vampire films with veteran novelist Chuck Hogan. And what’s more, the first book, titled “The Strain”, is already slated to hit bookstores next summer. The story revolves around a vampiric virus epidemic that plagues New York and tracks the vampire mythology back to the Old Testament. Geez, does Del Toro ever sleep?
