Red Cliff reel

JoBloJoBlo

After his foray into Western action flicks, John Woo has returned to Asia to make RED CLIFF . The flick, an epic two piece war film is based on the events during the Three Kingdoms period of Ancient Chinese history, and is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date. The production was plagued by casting musical chairs, but rested on starring roles for Tony Leung (2046) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS), both of whom are awesome. You can check out a promotional reel that was shown at Cannes BELOW:

Personally, I have loved John Woo all through his career. I even loved FACE/OFF. I mean, you could say his movies aren’t classy or understated and you’d have a case, but then I’d say to you sir, what about the part when Nic Cage squeezes a choir girl’s ass?
