Synecdoche Jon, Brion

JoBloJoBlo

In case there was any doubt that Charlie Kaufman (ADAPTATION) was a genius, he has gone and snagged Jon Brion to score his upcoming film SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK. The film screens on Friday at Cannes, and stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a theater director who has trouble dealing with the women of his life, while building a life-sized replica of New York City for his next production. Catherine Keener and Samantha Morton co-star.

Chances are, nine out of ten times that you’ve been watching a movie over the past couple of years and thought wow, that score was magical – it was Brion’s work. If ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND got you laid – a lot of that was down to Brion. He also did I HEART HUCKABEES, THE BREAK UP, MAGNOLIA and PUNCH DRUNK LOVE. He is awesome and that’s really all there is to say on the subject. Good news all round and drinks on me.
