Paul Giamatti, who along with Laura Linney can currently be seen in their 2009 Emmy award winning performances as John and Abigail Adams in the HBO mini series event “John Adams”, has joined Tony Gilroy’s sophomore directorial effort (a film he also, of course, scripted) DUPLICITY. In it, two spies (Clive Owen and Julia Roberts) for rival pharmaceutical companies find themselves in a steamy love affair while the CEO’s of the companies they work for (Giamatti and Tom Wilkinson) are too concerned with gaining the upper hand on each other to notice. Billy Bob Thornton had been in talks to join the cast as one of the CEO’s but apparently that didn’t pan out. Aside from the aforementioned “John Adams”, Giamatti can next be heard in director Rob Zombie’s animated horror action comedy THE HAUNTED WORLD OF SUPERBEASTO.
