Stone’s Bush

Director Oliver Stone has set his sights on making a film about the life of US President George W. Bush. He has also attached Josh Brolin (GRINDHOUSE) to play him. Now, that sounds like sound casting to me, but I think in their haste they might have overlooked someone. He… Well, have a look for yourself:

I know who I’d go with, but I guess that’s why I don’t have a job in Hollywood. Oh well, Brolin’s good too, I guess. Particularly when his wife’s running out on him with Fergie, or finding a satchel fulll o’ muuuney.

Stone mentioned that in spite of his previous comments on the President, he didn’t intend for the film to be a polemic; “But if ‘Nixon’ was a symphony, this is more like a chamber piece, and not as dark in tone. People have turned my political ideas into a cliche, but that is superficial. I’m a dramatist who is interested in people, and I have empathy for Bush as a human being, much the same as I did for Castro, Nixon, Jim Morrison, Jim Garrison and Alexander the Great.” I in turn will believe this when I see it. The film is written by Stanley Weiser and is titled simply, BUSH. It was between that, APPRECIFICATED, and MISUNDERESTIMICATED, the latter two being among the President’s favourite words.
