The buzz surrounding SWEENEY TODD has been grand, and that’s promising because I wouldn’t be able to handle this thing sucking, not with that visual style, that cast, that director and all that blood. Because oh yes, there will be blood. Even Alan Rickman says so in a brand new making-of featurette that popped up over at YouTube (but thanks to the miracle of embedding we have for you BELOW). It features interviews with director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp who both seem very thrilled with the work they’ve done. Either that or they’re lying so you’ll go see their movie. Some new things are revealed about the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, like his strong connection to his razors and the importance of his barber’s chair. In a way Sweeney reminds me of Depp’s Willy Wonka, except he drinks absinthe for breakfast and masturbates to The Collected Works of Edgar Allan Poe. SWEENEY TODD will slit your throat on Christmas Day.
