Steven Spielberg’s passion project TINTIN has found itself a writer. I’m sure you all know that probably the two biggest directors in Hollywood, Peter Jackson being the other one, are teaming up to produce and direct a trilogy of movies based on the Belgian reporter and world traveler, who is accompanied by his faithful dog Snowy. The movies will be done in motion capture 3-D technology, with each director helming one of the first two, and the third director as yet undetermined, although James Cameron or Robert Zemeckis would each be logical choices.
Wow, this project is so major that I’ve managed to go a whole paragraph without even mentioning who the writer is. That’s just bad journalism, folks. His name is Steven Moffat and is best known as a writer for the BBC series DOCTOR WHO. I’ve never seen the show, but based on what I’ve read, and on the tastes of Spielberg and the Jackson, he must be a rather talented fellow. The TINTIN books have been translated in over 50 languages and have sold over 200 million copies, so with these cats on board, this movie is what the film industry like to call a ‘sure thing.’ Stay tuned.
