Proyas to direct Surfer?

JoBloJoBlo

Do we want a SILVER SURFER movie? I still haven’t seen the FANTASTIC FOUR sequel but I’ve heard universally poor reviews. Still, even if I had hated X3 (which I didn’t) I’d still be looking forward to the WOLVERINE movie (which I am). Similarly, a brand new movie, under brand new direction offers brand new possibilities for the Surfer, so I’m totally on board. Especially when the director apparently being tapped for the project is Alex Proyas (DARK CITY).

Here’s the description of the Surfer’s story, from Wikipedia:

Norrin Radd was a young astronomer of the planet Zenn-La. In order to save his homeworld from destruction by a fearsome cosmic entity known as Galactus, Norrin made a bargain with the being, pledging himself to serve as its herald. Imbued in return with a small portion of Galactus’ Power Cosmic, Norrin acquired great powers, and a silvery appearance. He created for himself a surfboard-like craft — modeled after a childhood fantasy of his — on which he would travel at speeds beyond that of light. Known from then on as the Silver Surfer, Norrin began to roam the cosmos searching for new planets for Galactus to consume. When his travels finally took him to Earth, the Surfer came face-to-face with the Fantastic Four, a team of powerful superheroes that helped him to rediscover his nobility of spirit. Betraying Galactus, the Surfer saved Earth but was punished in return with everlasting exile there.
