More Sunrise/set?

BEFORE SUNSET is such a great film. Not only do I really, really like the thing, but the fact that I really, really like the thing has scored me major points with girls that I’ve told this too. I swear, recommending the flick to a girl automatically makes you sensitive and caring, or something. Seriously, try it.

Anyway, there’s only so much mileage you can get out of that one movie, and apparently, those of us who like the flick are partly to blame for the fact that there isn’t a third. We just didn’t make the thing enough money. When asked about a sequel, Hawke told MTV:

“We had an idea but [it’s] not going to happen, a pretty good outline of what the next one was going to be… But we would need to be in production right now, because we wanted to pick up right where we left off. Rick wanted to do a short film that was just two weeks later. Time goes by so fast.”

Bad news, hmm? I don’t know, I think the ending to BEFORE SUNSET was perfect. Still for those of you who weren’t satisfied, there is a silver lining. Although he joked that it might happen when he’s sixty, Hawke said that “I’ll be shocked if we never make another one.”.
